Tarform electric jet ski is a sculptural dose of biomorphic adrenaline

After honing its craft on land, Brooklyn-based Tarform is about to drop the fast, exhilarating spirit of its Luna electric bike into the water. Inspired by manta rays that have glided across the oceans for millions of years, we designed Water His Toy, a sporty, zero-emission vehicle that is as much a work of art as it is. Raye PWC takes the form of molten metal pieces that are poured and cooled in a smooth, slippery vessel with a tap up to 120 hp.

Even if the name isn’t immediately apparent, Raye’s marine life inspiration shines through nearly every square inch of its surface. A wide, crease nose, an eye-like front light, smooth, natural curves throughout, and a tail. Sheet-like design. After seeing it, we certainly thought it was just a design rendering with no future in real water, but Tarform is actually going to make that happen. For now, plans call for an all-electric waterjet propulsion system that will provide instant torque and acceleration to a top speed of 50 mph (80 km/h). Tarform will release two different power/range variants offering 70-120 horsepower and 1-2 hours of battery run time.

Raye also inherits intelligent features from the Luna motorcycle, getting the same style circular digital display, integrated sensors, machine learning and over-the-air updates. Luna uses his circular 3.4-inch display with 4G connectivity to keep users informed of driving metrics and maintenance diagnostics while connecting them to cloud services.

Terform

Tarform plans to give Raye a choice of recycled carbon fiber or plant-based composite bodywork for buyers. The price is estimated at US$68,000, but there is no release date yet. It took him a little over three years before the first Luna motorcycle arrived in his driveway and he started stuttering. See if Raye follows a similar trajectory.
