Albania’s capital, Tirana, is currently experiencing a construction boom that has resulted in so many unusual skyscrapers such as BIG’s Albanian National Theater and MVRDV’s Downtown One Tirana. The latest project takes the form of randomly stacked film reels, creating the television station’s new headquarters.
Klan TV’s headquarters was designed by Portuguese firm OODA (not to be confused with US-based ODA) in collaboration with local firm Artech.
The height has not yet been announced, but we do know that the building will have eight floors, each divided into reel-like sections. These are slightly staggered to create terraced areas and cantilevered sections. The exterior also features large screens for showing sports and other events.
Meanwhile, the interior will include office space and a television studio, arranged in a circle around a large central atrium. By using minimal columns and glass façades and skylights, it is designed to allow ample natural light to penetrate the interior, while also allowing views of the surrounding landscape.

“Standing next to the highway, this project aims to meet Clan TV’s expectations of becoming an independent icon in Tirana,” explains OODA. “This proposal, which takes on different shapes depending on how people move, offers a 360-degree view of the surrounding area, from the mountains to the city. Create a more dynamic façade that offers.. Each floor assumes a different relationship between the landscape and the lobby.
The Klan TV headquarters has some sustainability features, such as solar panels that reduce strain on the grid and a rainwater collection system used to irrigate the vast landscape.
The project has won an architectural competition and is currently underway, but no estimated completion date has yet been announced.
