Google continues to enhance Pixel devices by adding new features. Just recently, the company announced a slew of features for Android at his MWC 2023. Now, the company has started rolling out his March Feature Drop update, bringing a slew of new features to Pixel devices. These new updates make Pixel phones and watches more convenient and secure than ever before. Here are all the new features in Google’s March feature additions for Pixel devices:
Fast night mode on Pixel 6 and 6 Pro
One of the most significant updates is the Faster Night Sight feature. Google introduced faster Night Sight on the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro last year, and now it’s making the move to the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. With the latest update, Pixel 6/6 Pro will be able to take low-light photos with night vision faster than ever before. Google says it was made possible thanks to newly optimized algorithms for his Tensor chipset of the previous generation.
Magic Eraser now available on all Pixel phones
Google first released the Magic Eraser feature on the Pixel 6 series. For those who don’t know, this feature allows you to easily remove unwanted objects from your photos. With the Feature Drop update in March, Google will extend Magic Eraser functionality to all Pixel phones.
Direct My Call is now available on Pixel 4a and newer
Another feature found on older Pixel phones is Direct My Call. This feature is now available on all Pixel 4a and newer phones. Direct My Call saves you time by displaying menu options when calling toll-free numbers so you can quickly access the right extension.
health connect
Google introduced Health Connect at the I/O 2022 developer conference, and the feature is finally rolling out. Health Connect makes it easy to see data from multiple health and fitness apps in one place. This way, you don’t have to worry about which apps share health and fitness data on your device with other apps or run multiple fitness tracking services.
Show timers on all Pixel devices
Another subtle but useful feature that the Pixel March Feature Drop brings is the ability to view the timer on all Pixel devices without unlocking the phone. At a Glance now shows a countdown on your Pixel phone when you set a timer on your compatible Nest device. This feature is currently limited to English and is not compatible with Google Home Max.
Added fall detection to Pixel Watch
Google also added fall detection to the Pixel Watch in its Feature Drop in March. Google says that using built-in motion sensors and on-device machine learning, the Pixel Watch can accurately distinguish a hard fall from something like performing strenuous physical activity or recovering from a minor stumble. If you fall hard, the watch prompts you to choose “I fell and need help” or “I’m fine”. You can also dial emergency services if you need help.
Other features
- The update introduces a large digital clock in the quick settings that appears in the upper left corner, with the day and date displayed below it.
- You can now add two eSIMs to your Pixel 7 or 7 Pro. The update also brings his 5G support for Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 series devices in India.
- Pixel 6 Pro users can save battery life by switching from 1440p to 1080p FHD+ using Display settings.
- Google has added 21 new emojis to the OS, including pink hearts and trembling faces.
- Ultra-wideband digital car keys will be available in the coming weeks.
