Social media platform Reddit is experiencing an outage affecting its website and app, according to those who tried to load the company’s status page and platform. Reddit has been down since at least 12:18pm PDT.
The company has identified an internal system issue and a fix that “may take some time to implement,” the company said. This fix was confirmed around 2:43 PM PDT.
A Reddit spokesperson declined to share further information with TechCrunch about what caused the outage or how long it would take to fix.
Downdetector has over 60,000 reports of platform issues, and many TechCrunch reporters have seen problems loading Reddit.
The web page does not load any content and I get a popup saying “Sorry, the posts on this page could not be loaded”. The iOS app continues to load content that was downloaded hours ago, but not comments.
