Samsung makes great foldable devices and is a pioneer in making them. Now that other players in the industry have stiff competition, Samsung may be finding new avenues to stay on top when it comes to foldable devices.
We already have a list of what we want to see in upcoming foldable devices like the Galaxy Z Flip 5, but Twitter’s tip (@chunvn8888) shared (via SamMobile) what to expect from the upcoming foldable device. The claimed Galaxy Z Fold 5 is said to be 10 grams lighter than its predecessor. This is a good thing considering the larger form factor the device offers when deployed.
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 sets a new weight record for a foldable phone when expected to be about 10g lighter than the Fold 4 (9-12g from what I’ve heard). Both the Flip and Fold also use Samsung’s own version of the raindrop hinge to make both phones gapless.March 9, 2023
The sources further point out that the upcoming Fold and Flip phones will incorporate Samsung’s new waterdrop design which is said to give the devices a gapless design. That means it folds flat with no gaps, unlike its predecessor.
The new design could give Samsung better dust resistance, according to sources, but we’re skeptical if the company will bring it to commercial level later this year.

The informant has further shared information about the optics of the upcoming foldable device. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 will likely settle on the same camera as the recently released Galaxy S23-like Fold 4. expects the 50MP primary sensor to remain competitive with other foldable phones.
