Electric vehicle specific navigation comes to Waze. Starting today, the maps app is rolling out new data including EV charger locations to help EV drivers plan their routes.
A new app feature allows you to specify the EV type and associated charging plug. This can be used to filter only suitable charging stations. The Waze community says it reviews and updates map data “in real time to provide the most accurate and comprehensive information on the map.”
The addition of EV charger location data to Waze gives EV drivers yet another route planning tool. Apps like PlugCharge and A Better Route Planner are both widely used by his EV drivers to find chargers, and both Apple Maps and Google Maps come with EV routing capabilities.
