First Pixel 8 Pro renders leak, revealing a welcome change to the display

Apparently today is the day of the Pixel leak as the first renders of the Pixel 8 Pro have just been revealed and show some design differences from the Pixel 7 series.

SmartPrix contributed renderings in collaboration with ONLEAKSThe biggest difference you’ll notice on the Pixel 8 Pro is the display. This looks like a flat panel instead of a curved panel. Fans of flat displays may rejoice, but those who prefer curved displays won’t be too happy with the changes to Google’s next top-end flagship.

The bezels also look very small, but the bottom chin seems to be a little bigger and rounded corners to make the phone smaller in size. The display appears to measure somewhere in the ballpark of 6.52 inches, which is a bit smaller than the Pixel 7 Pro’s 6.7-inch panel. The Pixel 8 Pro’s dimensions are apparently 162.6 x 76.5 x 8.7mm, and the camera housing will be 12mm thick.

The rear camera housing is also slightly different. The camera visor remains the same, but the camera cutout changes slightly. Instead of having two separate cutouts for the three cameras like the Pixel 7 Pro, all three sensors are now part of his one cutout. Next to the camera is a flash unit and a mysterious sensor below it. It looks too big to be a mic, so it may have some sort of imaging capability, but we don’t know for now.

Other than the rumored codenames, not much is known about the Pixel 8 series — the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro are “shiba” and “husky” respectively. It is possible to carry a set.
