The Google Pixel 8 Pro was leaked today with CAD-based renderings, but visually it maintains the same design language as its predecessor. The phone will only be released in October, so these renders are pretty early, but Google might tease it on May 10th at the I/O developer conference, like they did with the Pixel 7 series last year. not.
The Pixel 8 Pro has rounded corners compared to last year’s Pixel 7 Pro, and the overall look is less boxy. The camera island is also different, but instantly recognizable as belonging to the Pixel. This time around, Google seems to have chosen to house all three of his cameras in the same oval “opening” in metal. There’s also a new sensor under the flash, but it’s unclear what this is at this time.
The Pixel 8 Pro measures 162.6 x 76.5 x 8.7 mm with a camera bump thickness of about 12 mm. At around 6.52 inches, the display is said to be smaller than the Pixel 7 Pro, but this adjustment clearly has to do with rounded corners. Unsurprisingly, you’ll find the power and volume buttons on the right, the USB-C port and speaker below, and the SIM tray on the left.
The phone is expected to feature the upcoming Google Tensor G3 SoC, which is rumored to be based on the unannounced Samsung Exynos 2300 which uses Samsung’s 3nm manufacturing process. This could improve both performance and efficiency compared to Tensor G2 manufactured at 5nm.
Heading for an earlier release, Google’s Pixel 7a mid-ranger has been leaked not once, but twice in the past two days. According to a new report from a normally reliable source, the device is due for release in June. The Pixel Fold is also expected to hit store shelves in June, according to the same sources.
The Fold comes in two color versions, Carbon and Porcelain. Think dark gray or black and white or off-white, respectively. This device is only available with 256 GB of storage. The price is so far said to be around 1,700 euros.
The Pixel 7a, on the other hand, is rumored to offer 128GB of storage in Arctic Blue, Carbon, and Cotton colors, and Jade could also arrive. Think of these as blue (obviously), black/grey, white, and greenish respectively. The price is expected to be around €500 in the EU. Both the Pixel Fold and Pixel 7a are said to be announced at Google’s I/O developer conference.
