Carl Pei, CEO and founder of Nothing, reveals known facts about the Ear (1) and Phone (1) in an extensive feature with Forbes, along with some new facts about the upcoming Ear (2). I also shared the details.
New audio wearables support LHDC 5.0 (Low Latency HD Audio Codec). This means you get the most out of certified Hi-Res audio. This is a codec that streams high-quality audio over Bluetooth, he says, and Pei contacted his Spotify and asked them to update their library to his LHDC.
The ears (2) also have an IP54 rating for limited ingress protection against dust particles and splashes.

As we near the launch of Nothing’s first-ever second-generation product, we look back at its evolution.

Nothing Ear (1) sales in the US accounted for a third of the 600,000 total, and Pei has revealed that its next Nothing phone is also heading to the North American market. He said 2023 will be a “huge opportunity for the company.”
The company announced on Twitter that the team of experts working on Ear (2) has grown by 30% to 700 people. Testing of the new wearable was done on over 120 phones and laptops, a 52% increase for him from the 70 devices used for the Ear trial(1).
Nothing Ear (2) is set to arrive on March 22nd, and the launch will be live-streamed so anyone interested can follow along.
