Microsoft 365 Apps now has an AI assistant that is light years ahead of Clippy.
Microsoft announced on Thursday(opens in new tab) Microsoft 365 Copilot is a productivity tool that combines Large Language Models (LLM) with user data from 365 apps and Microsoft Graph. Copilot works within the Microsoft 365 app ecosystem, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Teams. As Microsoft announced, you can generate ideas and create reports and documents in Word and PowerPoint by pulling information from your calendar, email, and contact list. In Outlook, Copilot can compose and coordinate emails. Summarize conversations and identify tasks and assignments in Teams. Copilot can also transcribe live meetings and create notes and summaries.
Copilot can take data from other Microsoft apps and generate text in Word.

Microsoft also announced a new tool called Business Chat. It’s a lot like Bing Chat or his ChatGPT, but works like an AI executive assistant. Like Copilot, Business Chat pulls information from your business data and apps, but can also be accessed from Bing or Microsoft365.com.(opens in new tab) In addition to Teams via your work account.
Copilot is currently being tested with a small group of customers and will be available in Microsoft 365 Apps in the coming months. Microsoft has not yet shared information about licensing and pricing, but said it will be available soon.
