The wildly popular Minecraft game is finally on your Chromebook. Mojang Studios has announced that an “early access” version of the game is now available, but only to a limited number of users.
This “early access” version of Minecraft: Bedrock Edition includes cross-device play so users can enjoy the game with players on other platforms and access the Minecraft Marketplace to purchase in-game creations. can be purchased and gives access to Minecraft Realms that the user can manage. That said, Mojang Studios notes that while users are honing their Chromebook experience, they may experience various bugs during gameplay, and users who notice something strange should: You can submit your report through Discord or the Minecraft website.
The release of the full version of Minecraft for Chromebooks is still unknown, but Mojang Studios assures users will have access to the Trails & Tales update, which will roll out later this year.
However, until the full version is available, you must own an eligible Chromebook that meets the minimum requirements to purchase the early access version from the Play Store.

Those eligible to purchase the game can choose from several different purchase options. The $20 bundle gets you both the Chromebook and Android versions of the game, while the $7 gets you the Android version only. There is a $13 price difference to upgrade from Android to Chromebook.
Prospective purchasers should note that a Microsoft account is required to play the game. However, existing worlds cannot be transferred to Minecraft for Chromebook. Also, trial worlds will not transition to the full version after release.
