ChatGPT Plus, a subscription service to access OpenAI’s text-generating AI, is now available in India. ChatGPT Plus features GPT-4, a sophisticated AI model that OpenAI launched earlier this week.
The paid tier gives customers early access to new features, including GPT-4. After weeks of early preview, ChatGPT Plus was launched in the US in February and is available for a $20/month subscription price. A subscription allows customers to use his ChatGPT even during peak usage times, get faster responses, and get priority access to new features and improvements.
OpenAI also continues to offer a free version of ChatGPT (with some limitations) on their website. Even if you don’t want to pay for access, you can still enjoy the ChatGPT experience through the Bing search engine.
OpenAI originally had a waiting list for users to access ChatGPT Plus. However, shortly after its release, the startup made its subscription service available to all users. This service aims to help OpenAI monetize ChatGPT. ChatGPT has gone viral and has gained a lot of attention in recent months for its AI-based conversational experience.
Not surprisingly, ChatGPT has also tackled some controversies and bans due to its nature and the sophistication of its human-like responses that can be deceptive. The features certainly appealed to the masses, and even attracted Microsoft, an early investor in OpenAI, to integrate the experience within their service. Competitors such as Baidu and Google have also started building similar conversational AI experiences.
