A 3D printing lab has found a way to automate the assembly and cooking of a seven-ingredient cheesecake. As a result, it no longer tastes like a traditional dessert.

“You take a bite and you feel the waves rushing toward you,” says Jonathan Blutinger of Columbia University in New York. “And I think it’s a function of the inner layers of the actual structure.”
