Technician layoffs continue.
Amazon has revealed that it plans to lay off 9,000 people in the coming weeks. This reduction impacts Amazon Web Services, People Experience and Technology Solutions, Advertising, and Twitch.
Combined with previously announced layoffs, this brings the total number of job cuts announced at Amazon to 27,000 over the past four months.

The news of the 9,000 layoffs comes just months after Amazon announced plans to lay off about 8,000 employees in January and about 10,000 last November. Sadly, the latest cut may not be the last, as it’s part of Amazon’s ongoing analysis of the role it’s currently undertaking to run “slimmer.”

Amazon aims to make a final decision on who to cut by mid-to-late April, but in the meantime it will implement “limited hiring” in “strategic areas.” .
“Of course, we will support those who have to let go, offering packages that include separation benefits, temporary health insurance benefits, and outside employment support,” said Jassy.
In general, now is a bad time to work in the tech industry. Besides Amazon, several other big tech companies have also experienced significant layoffs, including PayPal, Spotify, Google, Microsoft, Twitter and Vimeo. Every day, the idea of giving up everything and just running away into the woods is steadily becoming more appealing.
