Meta is introducing two new tools to Instagram designed to open up additional avenues for advertising as the company grapples with weak advertising demand. The social network has announced that it has begun testing ads in search results to reach people who are actively searching for their businesses, products, and content. Ads appear in a scrollable feed when users tap posts from search results.
After an initial testing phase, Meta plans to advertise in search results worldwide in the coming months. The launch brings advertising to yet another part of the social network, so from the perspective of some consumers, it could be an unwelcome addition to the app.
Widespread ad placement means that users around the world will see ads relevant to their searches. For example, searching for “skin care” will show relevant ads within the search results feed. The “Sponsored” label under your account name will tell you the difference between an ad and a regular post.
Instagram will also launch reminder ads. It is designed to make it easy for businesses to announce, remind, and inform people of upcoming events and launches that people might be interested in. The idea behind reminder ads is to help advertisers build awareness and anticipation of what’s to come. event. The user can select Reminders to receive her 3 notifications from Instagram. User will receive a reminder 1 day before her event or launch, 15 minutes before her event or launch and at that time. Reminder ads are rolling out to all advertisers as an option in their feeds.

These new tools will help Meta increase the company’s ability to extract revenue at a time when it is witnessing declining ad sales. As part of its fourth quarter 2022 earnings results, Meta revealed last month that advertising revenue fell to $31.2 billion from his $32.6 billion in the same period last year. Meta CFO girlfriend Susan Li said at the time that the company’s fourth-quarter earnings were under pressure from weak advertising demand. Li said this was due to “uncertain and unstable macroeconomic conditions”.
After Meta reported its first-ever quarterly revenue decline amid declining ad sales in Q2 2022, the company increased its ad load on Instagram by launching two new ad slots. Meta has launched a new ad format for Facebook Reel, allowing advertisers to place ads on his Explore home page and profile feed.
Like Snap, Meta isn’t the only company grappling with slowing ad demand. CEO Evan Spiegel told analysts Its ad demand hasn’t improved in the last month. Spiegel said this was due to advertisers controlling their budgets during a time of economic uncertainty.
