After 10 years of history, Meta’s VR game publishing division finally got the official name of Oculus Publishing. Meta revealed their names at the Game Developers Conference 2023 (GDC) and included some impressive stats on the state of VR gaming, especially on the Quest platform.
To date, Meta has funded over 300 VR titles through its Oculus Publishing division, including some of the best Quest games. (opens in new tab) Among Us VR, Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners, Blade & Sorcery: Nomad, and many more. This is good news for anyone playing VR games on Quest or looking to buy a Quest 3. Meta also revealed that over 150 titles are in active development, including Hello Neighbor VR and other highly anticipated upcoming Quest games. (opens in new tab)Oculus Studios is Meta’s first-party development arm responsible for creating games and other apps from Meta-owned brands such as Population: One, Lone Echo, Iron Man VR and Resident Evil 4 VR.
Finally, we’re seeing a growing number of successes coming from Meta related to sales across VR games and the Quest platform. Over 500 games are now available for Quest 2 through the Quest Store, and the company says more than $1.5 billion of his has been spent on his VR apps and games for Quest. Over 40 titles have grossed more than his $10 million, and according to Meta, the number of titles with more than his $20 million in revenue has doubled year-over-year.
