- OnePlus China president Li Jie has hinted that the new OnePlus 11 variant could be made from materials the industry has yet to see in a phone.
- The post was accompanied by a photo of the OnePlus 11 frame against the planet Jupiter.
- After a Weibo leaker “doubled down” on Li Jie’s post, and after seeing the teaser images as well, users began to wonder if the phone was made out of marble.
OnePlus could have hinted that the mobile phone industry hasn’t seen it yet.
OnePlus China president Li Jie posted in a Weibo post about a new OnePlus 11 variant using materials never before used by a smartphone (via Android Authority). Li Jie says the new product will challenge the “impossible” in the mobile phone industry. His apparent OnePlus 11 variant has been teased as being built with “unprecedented materials and craftsmanship.”

The company’s president also attached the framework for the OnePlus 11 to this post as well, pitting it against Jupiter, the solar system’s giant gas giant. Given the phone’s appearance against the largest planet, it’s very similar to what you’d find in your kitchen: marble.
In a way, the relatively large amount of Weibo leaked digital chat stations doubled down on what Li Jie had to say about the upcoming OnePlus 11 variant. They suggest that this new phone may have a new material on the back, which could make it feel “cool and crisp to the touch.” The conversation continued in the comments below, with others speculating that the phone could be made out of marble.
The OnePlus 11 launched over a month ago and also featured a matte finish lining and a layer of Gorilla Glass 5. Many flagship phones in the industry use some kind of glass, including the Galaxy S23 Ultra and its Gorilla Glass Victus 2 back, and the glossy glass back of the Google Pixel 7 Pro. We use vegan leather, which is completely unheard of in a smartphone.
Cooler-feeling phones work on two fronts: the phone itself and the person holding it. If you can reduce the amount of heat your phone conducts, it will prolong battery life and make it easier to hold when you’re maxing out its potential.
OnePlus China president Li Jie didn’t specify when this new 11 variant will launch, but it’s certainly unique when it features a marble backing.
