HUAWEI today announced the latest (and greatest) addition to its smartwatch lineup, the HUAWEI WATCH Ultimate. HUAWEI’s new “ultra-flagship” smartwatch offers cutting-edge technology, features and design. In this article, we take a look at the design, features, pricing and availability of the HUAWEI WATCH Ultimate.

HUAWEI WATCH Ultimate is made with a zirconium-based liquid metal material case. While most smartwatches (even high-end ones) offer stainless steel construction, HUAWEI takes things a step further by using a new material that is 4.5 times stronger and 2.5 times harder than stainless steel. The company says the metal does not deform even under high temperature conditions. Zirconium material is usually used in traditional high-end watches, but HUAWEI is the first to use it in smartwatches.
HUAWEI WATCH Ultimate comes in two editions: Voyage Blue and Expedition Black. The Voyage Blue version features a deep blue Nanotech ceramic bezel, while the Expedition Black version has a lightweight obsidian body and a Nanotech ceramic ring with tachymeter.
The Voyage Blue version strap is made of a hard titanium alloy that is twice as strong as stainless steel. It’s also worth noting that both models ship with Hydrogenated Nitrile Rubber (HNBR) straps.
Looking at the display, the HUAWEI WATCH Ultimate comes with an LTPO AMOLED panel that can reach a brightness of up to 1000 nits. The display is protected by sapphire glass, which the company claims is “fully laminated and abrasion resistant.” Surrounding the display is a 3D rotating crown, function buttons, and assist buttons. Pressing the assist button takes the user directly to the dive or expedition mode functions.

As mentioned above, HUAWEI WATCH Ultimate is designed for outdoor adventure enthusiasts and the smartwatch offers best-in-class features for diving expeditions. HUAWEI claims that WATCH Ultimate can withstand 110 meters of submersion for 24 hours. A new design allows the smartwatch to withstand extreme deep-sea pressures. For reference, the Apple Watch Ultra only supports up to 40 meters of submersion.
Another cool feature of WATCH Ultimate is the new Expedition mode. This feature uses the Precision Dual-Frequency Five-System GNSS positioning system to accurately record the user’s motion trajectory with marking points. Users can then use these marking points to return to their starting point or previous location. Additionally, expedition mode tracks blood oxygen levels and battery life lasts for weeks.
As for health features, HUAWEI WATCH Ultimate features ECG and all-day heart rate, SpO2, and stress monitoring. Notifies you of abnormal heart rate and risk of arteriosclerosis. The watch also comes with HUAWEI TruSleep 3.0 to track your sleep throughout the night.
Huawei says these features “do not come at the expense of battery life.” The smartwatch has a battery life of up to 2 weeks on a single charge. It also supports fast charging, and the company claims that it can be fully charged in 60 minutes and 25% in 10 minutes. And unlike other high-end smartwatches on the market, HUAWEI WATCH Ultimate supports both Android and iOS.
Pricing, availability and offers
HUAWEI WATCH Ultimate will be available in the UK and Europe from April 3, 2023. The smartwatch is available at the company’s stores and select retailers. Unfortunately, the price of the HUAWEI WATCH Ultimate has not yet been announced. We will update this article when we know more.
