Amazfit is one of our favorite smartwatch brands. This week, the company announced a new high-end T-Rex Ultra smartwatch.
This watch targets the outdoor type as shown by its design and tough build. It’s made using 316L stainless steel and has a design that Amazfit describes as ‘mudproof’.
In addition to its durability, the watch can withstand extreme temperatures up to 70°C and down to -40°C.
The watch has a bright AMOLED display that is easy to read in almost any lighting condition. Battery life is also impressive, averaging 20 days on a single charge. Amazfit rates the T-Rex Ultra at around 9 days of heavy use, but it’s still impressive.
When using GPS, it lasts up to 80 hours in Endurance GPS mode. This can put some of the best GPS smartwatches to shame, but battery life drops to around 10 hours in cold temperatures.The T-Rex Ultra uses dual-band GPS for precise positioning. , supports six satellite positioning systems. Users can also download maps. This will help you stay on the right track.
For fitness, the watch has over 160 sport modes. Auto-detect movement for up to 25 workouts and 8 sports, including outdoor running, treadmill, walking, indoor walking, outdoor cycling, pool swimming, rowing machine and elliptical. For swimmers, the watch is water resistant to 10 ATM and suitable for freediving to 30 meters.
Amazfit T-Rex Ultra runs Zepp OS 2.0 and supports various health tracking features such as heart rate, SpO2, stress and sleep. The Zepp app also provides access to many additional features and over 120 watch faces. The watch also connects to a range of professional devices and GoPro action cameras.
All these great features don’t come cheap, but at $400, the T-Rex Ultra is $50 cheaper than the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, has much longer battery life, and is geared toward outdoor enthusiasts.
