Could the Galaxy A54 be a worthy successor to the A52s? The A53 wasn’t quite as good, but the phone was a bright spot in the series. I have to prove it.
The reason the A52s were so well received is their chipset. The Snapdragon 778G was powerful, efficient and worked well for its €450 price tag. The A53 is powered by the Exynos 1280, which could match its predecessor with 113 hours of endurance, but it required an extra 500mAh in the battery to do so. It wasn’t even close to that.
Now the Samsung Galaxy A54 comes with a much improved Exynos 1380, but also with a price increase of 40/50 euros. This chip measures against 778G instead of 1280, which is a no-brainer. We’ve already run tests on the phone, so stay tuned for our detailed review.
Incidentally, the Galaxy A54 and its sibling Galaxy A34 start shipping in India this week, priced at Rs 39,000 and Rs 31,000. Samsung has also quietly launched the Galaxy M54. This is a bigger A54 with a better camera and a bigger battery (simply put, 6.7 inch screen, 108MP main cam and 6,000mAh battery). We don’t yet know which market gets his M54, but does he prefer the M54 over the A series?
When it comes to price and the Samsung Galaxy A34, this seems like a swing and a miss.
A long-time rival to the Redmi Note series, which launched in Europe this week, its price is also on the rise: at around €400, the same as the Galaxy A34, you can get the Redmi Note 12 Pro instead.
