OnePlus continues to tease about its upcoming limited edition, but this time it has a lot to reveal.
Chinese OEM president Li Jie has posted on his personal Weibo page about the upcoming limited edition OnePlus 11 called “Jupiter Rock”. Li Jie explains that future unique mobile phones will be made from “3D microcrystalline rock”. This is probably not what other phones are made for now, and for good reason.
OnePlus’ president explained that in order to use this “unprecedented material” and mass-produce it, the company had to develop a dedicated new production process. After that, Mr. Li Jie explained that microcrystalline rock has 25% production efficiency compared with glass (which is more widely used in the industry). The yield of stone is also only 50% compared to glass.

Overall, this aforementioned new process involves nine different steps and has taken OnePlus over a year to develop.
The company seems to be leaning into the “uniqueness” this Jupiter Rock phone can offer by stating that each back cover is “manually selected.” Basically, every OnePlus 11 Jupiter Rock phone can have subtle differences (even when it comes to textures) that make your phone feel different from the next.
In a subsequent post, OnePlus president Li Jie said the Jupiter Rock phone would push into territory the industry has never ventured “in terms of materials, craftsmanship and many other aspects.”
The Chinese OEM’s teasing of this new OnePlus 11 variant began almost a week ago with the framework of a phone call against the gas giant Jupiter. Previously, it was thought that OnePlus might have made the back of this variant out of marble, as it was rumored to be “cold and cold to the touch.” As most people are familiar with, many phones in the industry utilize a layer of glass on the back of the device, such as the original He OnePlus 11’s Gorilla Glass 5 backing.
President Li Jie and the company also announced that the new OnePlus 11 Jupiter Rock limited edition phone will be available in China on March 29th at 2:30pm CST (China Standard Time).
