A carbon version of the Specialized Sirrus started as an urban fitness/commuter bike and transformed into a bike aimed at gravel riding. Its latest incarnation continues along those lines but features a striking new frame design.
Sirrus Carbon is offered in two models, Carbon X 5.0 and Carbon 6.0.
Both feature a full carbon fiber frame, with the unique feature that the seatstays join together with the suspended lower end of the seat tube, with a strut leading from that joining point to the downtube.
This setup is known as Compliance Junction and is claimed to “provide the right amount of flex and forgiveness throughout the carbon frame without sacrificing performance and efficiency.” Of course, it also aims to get potential buyers to say, “Hey, cool!”
Specialized
Carrying over from the existing Sirrus lineup is an addition called the Future Shock. This is a headset-integrated coil spring shock absorber that provides 20mm of front travel to smooth the handlebars.
The cheaper of the two new models, the Carbon X 5.0, features a SRAM NX Eagle 1 x 12 drivetrain, Tektro TKD-148 hydraulic disc brakes, and Specialized Pathfinder Pro 700 x 38c gravel-ready tires. It weighs 24 pounds (10.9 kg) and is priced at US$2,250.
The higher spec Carbon 6.0 is replaced by a SRAM GX Eagle drivetrain, SRAM Level TLM hydraulic disc brakes and smoother Specialized Roubiax Pro 700 x 30/32c tires (both Sirrus models can accommodate tires up to 42c). increase).
