- Motorola is preparing to launch its next foldable phone “soon.”
- The phone will reportedly be named the Motorola Razr+ 2023 and was previously rumored to have a much smaller battery.
- According to the FCC listing, the phone’s total battery size is 3640mAh.
While previous rumors about the Motorola Razr+ 2023 didn’t give much indication of the phone’s battery life, the new FCC certification raises hopes for the upcoming foldable phone.
The FCC certification was spotted by MySmartPrice, revealing additional information about the Razr+ 2023. According to the docs, we can expect support for multiple 5G networks from him, which shouldn’t be too surprising for his 2023 flagship foldable phone. Collected from the documentation is the apparent battery capacity of the device.
According to a recent leak, the phone only has a 2850mAh battery, which is laughably small even compared to last year’s model. But according to FCC documents, this is literally only half the picture. This apparently was referring to his one of his two battery units on the Razr+ 2023. The second battery has a capacity of 790mAh, bringing the total battery capacity of the phone to 3640mAh.
That’s larger than the Razr 2022’s battery, but slightly smaller than the Galaxy Z Flip 4’s 3700mAh battery. It’s also much smaller than the OPPO Find N2 Flip’s 4300mAh battery. Still, we welcome the battery increase and hope the phone will benefit from a more efficient chipset when it launches later this year.
The extra battery should also help power the phone’s much larger external display, which is said to be larger than its competitors and span most of the phone’s cover panel. It is also planned to support charging of
Besides the battery, FCC documents reveal multiple model numbers for the phone: XT2321-1, XT2321-3, and XT2321-5. In the document, he describes the two as “the same product with different model names depending on the market segment.” There’s no indication as to which markets the phone will launch in, but hopefully this means Motorola will arrive in the US after skipping markets last year.
Motorola was one of the first companies to launch a commercially available foldable phone with the Razr reboot feature. While the phone hasn’t reached the same level of success as Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip series, the upcoming Razr+ 2023 could change its fortunes with a more attractive design and wider launch.
