prologue
Xiaomi usually presents its Redmi phones in buckets, so it’s perfectly understandable if you lose track of which one is which. There are four Redmi Note 12 smartphones for the global market, two standard models and two Kind of a Pro model. We’ve already reviewed the most premium one of the quartet, namely the Pro+ with 200MP camera and 120W charging, so today it’s time to meet his regular Redmi Note 12 Pro.
Highlights of the mainstream Pro model include Dolby Vision OLED, fast performance, 50MP OIS primary camera, and fast 67W charging. This Redmi Note 12 Pro is the cheapest smartphone that offers a complete Dolby package (Vision and Atmos).

In fact, the Redmi Note 12 Pro adopts a 6.67-inch Dolby Vision OLED with 1B colors and a 120Hz refresh rate. It sits atop a Dimensity 1080 5G chipset and should provide plenty of power for smooth gaming on a budget.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro has three cameras on the back: a 50MP OIS primary, an 8MP ultra-wide shooter and a 2MP macro cam. That’s the first key difference from the Pro+ model, which instead has his 200MP main camera.
The second difference is charging speed. The standard Redmi Note 12 Pro supports 67W fast charging, which is slow compared to the Pro+’s staggering 120W of power, but it’s more than enough.
The third and final difference is the design. The Note 12 Pro is a flat dual-glass device, while the Pro+ has a curved glass back.

One last thing – if you’re coming from the previous Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G you’ll find improved display (1B colors vs 16 million), performance (Dimensity 1080 vs Snapdragon 695) and main camera (OIS vs .stabilization None, 4K vs. 1080p capture) as well.
Let’s take a closer look at the spec sheet for the Redmi Note 12 Pro.

The Note 12 Pro’s most obvious omission is the microSD expansion slot. The microSD is gone in the Pro version, although the base Note 12 model still has it.
Other than storage expansion, there are no other surprises. So, without further ado, here is the Redmi Note 12 Pro out of the box.
Unpacking the Redmi Note 12 Pro
Redmi Note 12 Pro comes in a regular paper box. The box contains the phone itself, a 67W power adapter, and a USB-A-to-C cable.

As expected, at least for Xiaomi, you also get a clear soft case and a thin protective film pre-applied to the Redmi’s display.
