The US Department of Defense (DoD) has launched a website to accompany the Hack the Pentagon (HtP) program.
Craig Martell, Director of Digital Services (DDS) for the Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO), announced the website last Thursday. A resource for DoD organizations, vendors, and security researchers to understand how bug bounties are implemented.
The site also supports and participates in DoD-wide bug bounties in partnership with the CDAO DDS team.
“With the launch of the HtP website, CDAO has historically served a project by project by giving departments better access to lessons learned and best practices for hosting bug bounties. We are expanding our long-term program,” said Martel.
“This website will help enable the Department of Defense to implement ongoing bug bounties as part of a larger, more comprehensive cybersecurity strategy.”

DDS also explained that the new website goes beyond educational purposes to recruit and recruit technical talent.

According to a blog post published by the Directorate General last Thursday, Hack the Pentagon has backed over 40 bug bounties since its launch in 2016. Over 1,400 ethical hackers have participated in these programs and have uncovered approximately 2,100 vulnerabilities in total.
A second iteration of the Hack the Pentagon program was announced in 2018. DDS will become part of the CDAO organization in June 2022.
