This is a smart new kitchen technology. Sepura, a Victoria, British Columbia company, recently unveiled its eponymous home appliances. There’s an included Bluetooth button that you can stick anywhere near your sink.
Once enough food has accumulated under the drain, the tap of a button initiates the process of effectively pushing the waste into the appliance. In an introductory video, co-founder and CEO Victor Nikolov quickly realized that the system doesn’t actually crush food waste, unlike traditional garbage disposals. “We realized it was better to keep things [intact]We have found that it is better for the planet to avoid crushing things down the drain. “
The system also has a safety device to prevent water from entering the receptacle, allowing the pipe to drain first. It also stops when unnecessary tools are detected in the compost bucket.
Today, the company announced the closing of a $3.7 million seed round designed to accelerate production and shipment of its products. It will be $700 when it starts shipping in July. The round was properly led by sinkmaker Blanco.
