Though only 6 meters long (nearly 20 feet), Kejadenn’s Tiny House is designed to mitigate its diminutive size with clever interior layouts that maximize every inch of available space . The residence functions as a villa on wheels and sleeps up to 5 people.
Baluchon’s Kejadenn (meaning meeting in French Celtic Breton) is based on a two-axle trailer and features a contemporary exterior design constructed with red cedar and black aluminum accents. It consists of a spruce frame, with a mix of cotton, linen and linen insulation in the floor, walls and ceiling. Power comes from his standard RV style hookup.
Visitors enter the living room, which is airy and light-filled thanks to its spacious glass walls and high ceilings. There is a sofa bed for 2 people and a small coffee table and shelf.
Kejadenn’s kitchen is nearby. It has a small drop down dining table, sink, microwave, refrigerator, two burner propane stove and cabinets. There are also enough electric wall heaters to heat the entire house, says Baluchon. The kitchen is connected via a sliding door to a very compact bathroom where there is a shower, sink and toilet.

Upstairs there is a staircase integrated into the kitchen countertop. These look a little clunky, but they’re arranged that way to save floor space. The loft has two bedrooms instead of one as you would normally expect. A primary bedroom with a double bed and an adjoining secondary bedroom with foldout seating to serve as the owner’s child’s bed. It looks a bit cramped in there, but since it’s only used for short stays, the lack of personal space isn’t much of an issue.
