Superconducting qubits, or qubits, have broken records for how long they can maintain their quantum properties. Extending this time will make future quantum computers even more useful.

The first step in building a quantum computer is choosing a method to create its key building blocks, called qubits. One popular choice, endorsed by research institutes and industry players such as IBM and Google, is the transmon superconducting qubit. However, like all qubits, these qubits can become ineffective once the data has been stored or processed.
