Ignore the fact that GPU companies’ stock prices skyrocketed due to the current AI boom, and parse the rest. NVIDIA does not have a manufacturing plant. Calling NVIDIA a chip maker is an odd statement, as the company’s chips are now made by TSMC and have been made by several other companies over the years. NVIDIA’s multi-trillion dollar value is only accurate when specifically talking about market capitalization and has absolutely nothing to do with reality.
Reflecting reality, total revenue for the quarter was NVIDIA’s revenue of $7.19 billion versus Intel’s revenue of $11.7 billion, which was a terrible quarter for Intel. , reflecting a better-than-expected quarter for NVIDIA. There is no way for NVIDIA to scale production closer to what the market cap suggests. NVIDIA doesn’t have people. The current design of server chassis was designed many years ago and built for chips that are larger and consume less power than today’s silicon. Nor could he consider HPC cards in the design, considering that HPC cards did not exist. NVIDIA has enhanced the solution with a modular design for rack servers specifically designed to handle large amounts of his HPC hardware. The modular design significantly reduces construction costs while providing a wide range of designs for specific hardware that requires cooling and power delivery.
