Scratch Your Surface? Microsoft Now Offers Official Replacement Parts

Tools sold separately by iFixit

It’s been a long time coming, but soon you’ll be able to repair your Microsoft Surface with official parts. Warranty services are very comprehensive, but repairs can be very expensive once they expire. Off-the-shelf parts don’t fit well in Surface device designs, only custom parts work. iFixit has been selling tools such as peel cradles and battery protectors for over a year now, but until now there has been no official source for replaceable parts.

Older Surface models have a limited amount of replacement parts, but newer models like the Surface 9 have all the parts. You can buy everything from USB-C ports to screens, and he can even buy SSDs if you want to make sure your storage is authentic. Not all parts are cheap. At $1,750, the Surface Studio 2 Plus screen is significantly more expensive than the $350 screen on the Surface Pro 9, but once you’ve successfully fixed the Surface, it looks a little less shaky.
