We’ve all heard that a picture is worth 1,000 words. Political affairs firm Neptune Ops suggests taking that truism to its logical conclusion:
“[R]esearch shows that the human brain processes visual information 60,000 times faster than text. … Yet since the invention of writing, text has been the nearly universal way that information is transferred for one simple reason–we’re not all artists. And even for those of us who are, pictures are time consuming to create. So almost to a person, we choose 1,000 words over one picture the vast majority of the time. But despite this choice, text remains a low-powered substitute for visual communication. And now suddenly, because of image generation tools… we can all swap thousands of words for a few images in just a few seconds.”
So, when Professor Adam Mossoff, a respected expert on intellectual property policy matters, posted on LinkedIn about the historical treatment of injunctive relief for IP infringement in the United States, I was inspired to take up Neptune’s challenge to try to deliver a compelling message about the significance—and availability—of injunctive relief mainly via AI-generated images. You, the audience, will be the judge of my success.

Working in the intellectual property space, no offering in this format could be complete without some commentary on the copyright implications. Each of the above images was created separately by minimal individual prompts from the author to the generative AI, such as “burglar breaking into house.” No information was readily available on the material used to train the AI. From a menu of image style choices, the author selected “comic book”-style, without reference to the content or style of any particular creator. To the best of the author’s knowledge each image is original and does not infringe the rights of any existing content or artist; however, the author claims no right to any individual image, but only to their overall arrangement and description as seen above. Moreover, by its Terms & Conditions of Use, the AI host company, “will not claim any copyright ownership over your input data or the resulting material you generate.”
