Germany’s latest offshore wind tender has received two zero-subsidy bids.
Rather, in the next step of the process the developers will expectedly make payment offers for rights to develop 1GW, reports Recharge News, citing German federal network regulator Bundesnetzagentur (BNetzA).
This result is in sharp contrast to a recent solication in Denmark, where a tender round earlier this year went completely wrong without a single bid, prompting the Danish government to relaunch the tender with the possibility of subsidization of up to DKK 55bn (EUR 7.4bn).
However, regarding the German site on offer, N-9.4, developers are required by authorities to overplant the site by 10-20% relative to grid connection capacity, a measure meant to ensure greater system efficiency in the power grid by allowing for more days of full-capacity transmission.
“In the tender for offshore wind turbines on sites not subject to central pre-investigation, two bids were received for site ’”N-9.4’ with a value of zero cents per kilowatt hour for the bidding deadline of June 1, 2025,”Recharge cites a BNetzA spokesperson saying:
”The Federal Network Agency intends to conduct a dynamic bidding process starting June 16, 2025.”
