Everything that’s broken on Twitter right now, from video plays to follower counts

Twitter seems to be full of bugs, and exterminators won’t stop by anytime soon. There was graffiti on the walls. Twitter’s staff is down after major layoffs in November and December. The company closed its Seattle office late last year, but not before things got so bad that employees brought their own toilet paper to work. Earlier this week, a Twitter employee was kicked out of his Singapore office for unpaid rent.

The absence of these workers can now be felt while using the site. Users are paying attention to this issue, but Twitter doesn’t seem to be paying attention. Instead of fixing them, we’re messing around with features that don’t need to change in the first place, like image display and view count. The Twitter lights may be on, but is anyone actually home?

Here’s a rundown of what users say they need to fix now:

Video stops playing midway but audio continues playing or clip restarts

Video audio keeps playing even if you scroll through the video or leave Twitter to open another app

Liked videos are automatically muted

Editing a Tweet with a video turns the video into an image

Edited Tweets may appear multiple times at the top of the Home feed

Replies not showing up in notifications

Both following and unfollowing accounts will increase your follower count.

Tweets from blocked users will only be visible for a brief moment when first opened. You can also see tweets that were deleted shortly after posting.
